Well!  Biz has been slow and I have been using that time to try and come up with some more stock coin ideas.   We did a design contest, which didn’t garnish much, we had two people send in designs and the both were copyrighted.  I am finally getting around to re engraving, some Christmas images

My business, Smashing Pennies, did have two custom coin order’s last month, which was nice and very interesting doing one of them.  I always like seeing what people want on their custom coins.

I am working on making some wind chimes out of some of our elongated coins, I have everything pictured, I just have to figure out how to make it sound good.

I recently traded some EC decal’s for some coins to add to my collection as well as a special coin for my daughter’s birthday.  She is MADLY in LOVE with any thing that has to do with UNICORNS.

When my husband first started using WordPress, he found out that there what is called a WordCamp, they are held all over the US and in other countries.  Last year he attended WordCamp Birmingham, I posted about this in a previous post, on the way home we talked about how cool it would be to make a WordPress coin.  We then found out there was going to be a WordCamp Atlanta, so we quickly contacted the planners, to find out how many would be coming so we could bring enough to pass around.   WordCamp Atlanta was also where we made a coin that was spesific to them, and we were a in like kind sponsor, I then mentioned to my husband that I would like to send out to other WordCamps the WordPress coins.  It so happened that several of the attendee’s had mentioned the WordPress coins to several people from Automatic, I was able to get a hold of the lady in charge of like kind sponsorships and she was nice enough to post a picture to the organizers blog that WordCamp has.   We had several very nice comment,s on our coins that we handed out at WordCamp Atlanta, I started looking for WordCamps that were coming up and contacting the planners, to offer the coins.

WordCamp Miami, is the first of three WordCamps that we are sending out coins to, WordCamp Miami was held Feb 20th, 2010 and they had a great turn out this year.   They were expecting around 200 people to attend, so I made sure that I sent them enough for any last minute attendee’s.  I can’t wait to hear back on how and if people liked them.

WordCamp Fayetteville in Arkansas, is being held at the end of May and we will be sending coins to them. Not sure how many yet, as it get’s closer they are going to give us a number.

WordCampSF is a one day WordCamp, being held on May 1st.  They are expecting 1,000 people to come, I am still waiting to hear back on how many they would like us to send.

We received two really neat orders; one was for a young man’s 13th birthday and he also collects elongated coins, and the other was for a company called Tourtered Teez.  They were both really neat orders and we were excited to do them.   The birthday coin was done on Pennies while the teez coin was done on a dime.  It was the first dime we have done.

Well! I had planned on doing better with posting things to a blog, and I do not know how a friend of mine does it. She seems to be able to post just about daily and do so much other stuff.

We are doing as well as can be expected. I have battled with six boughts of strep throat and on 11/26/07 will have my tonsils removed.

We have been doing OK, with our business Smashing Pennies (www.smashingpennies.com) where we make custom coins and just recently bought an engraver do make our own dies and we also started Fox Valley Engraving (www.foxvalleyengraving.com) in September of this year.
We (as Smashing Pennies) will be attending our first bridal show on Jan 20th in Macon, GA. We are excited and are hoping it will help business some, we are also doing a coin for a childrens book by CeCe Bell.

Our kids are doing well and continue to be handfuls. Emily is our oldest and is in 2nd grade, while her grades are doing better, we still have issues with her and school. Erin our middle is in pre-k, she missed the cut off for kindergarten by 2 1/2 weeks, her teachers call her confidently sarcastic. She tells you like it is and can have the oddest facial exspressions while doing so. Jillian our youngest is 27 months and tries to copy her sisters the good and the bad.

Zac still works for the Fort Valley Utility Commission, doing their computer work. It is at least better than his old job.

I between being a wife, mother and homeowner also take care of all business things, needless to say that sometimes I feel overwhelmed.

My husband and I have lost several family members to cancer, for the past 6 years we have been part of our local Relay for life. This year we did two coins for the Relay for life, they can be seen at www.smashingpeenies.com. Please help us support this great cause.

We have been able to raise a little over $300.00 for this great cause, the coins came out very nice and we have had some great comments on them.
