I made homemade applesauce today, it was very yummy and despite what most people think, pretty easy to make.   So here is what you will need:
Food strainer( I own a back to basics model 220 and I grew up using a Squesso Straino)  The Squesso Straino used runs about $150.00 and new runs about $200.00.  I think I paid $35-$45.00 for the one I have.  The only thing I do not like about mine, is when you wash it your hands turn black.
  Or

Apple of any type

Cut them in half and stick in a large pot with just enough water to cover the amount of apples in pot, cook until they are mushy.

When mushy take out and put into the strainer

You should end up with waste looking like this coming out of one side

Your final product should look like this

I made enough to freeze about 4 quarts of applesauce

I always taste test my applesauce before I add sugar or cinnamon, sometimes you just don’t need it.  I also either freeze my applesauce or I hot water bath can it.
